Who is Jesus Christ?
Part 2: A Spiritual Look (Miss Part 1? Check it Out Here)
Jesus Christ is probably most commonly known as the Figurehead of the Christian faith. Though this is true, a less known fact is that many other religions also observe Christ's existence, teachings, and importance.
Christianity's View of Jesus
Generally speaking, Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and the second member of the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) Which make up God. Jesus was born into the flesh, but is both true man, and true God. Jesus' life and teachings are completely blameless, that is to say, without any sin or moral defect. Jesus Christ was crucified by Roman order, but his sacrifice was God-intended; this was necessary to atone for our sins, which make us fall short of the kingdom of God. Because of this, people no longer need to sacrifice to be righteous in God's eyes, Jesus was the 'ultimate sacrifice'. For God so loved the world, that he sent his one and only son. that whoever believes in him may not perish but have eternal life. (John 3: 16) Three days after Christ's crucifixion, he rose from the dead, fulfilling prophesies of the old testament, and his own teachings. Jesus apeared to several people after his death, including his diciples. He later rose to Heaven, and will come again during the end of days to judge the living and the dead. Those who have known Christ as their saviour, and believe his word in their heart, will spend the rest of eternity in Heaven with Him and all others.
Islam's View of Jesus
The Muslim view of Jesus varies from that of the Christian one. Jesus is known as Isa; He is one of God's most beloved prophets, and the Messiah. Like Chritsianity, Islam holds that Jesus had no biological father, that is that he was born of the virgin Mary by the will of God (Known in the Arabic: Allah). As with other Muslim prophets, Jesus lived a blameless life, showing no violence towards man nor beast, and claiming no physical posessions. Muslim belief says that Jesus could indeed preform miracles, but only by the will of Allah; and that Jesus' divinity is non existant, in fact the Qu'ran warns against believing such things. Islam does not believe that Jesus was crucified, but taken to heaven before hand, with another crucified in his place. Jesus will decend in Damascus (presently Syria) in the end times with Imam Mahdi to destroy the Antichrist. Islam tells that Jesus will then live out the rest of his natural life, and be buried alongside Muhammed in Medina.
Judaism's View of Jesus
Judiac law states that the belief in Jesus as part of a Holy Trinity, or a divine mediator of God is heresy. Judaism also does not consider Jesus to be the Messiah primarily because it does not consider him to have fulfilled the Messianic Prophesies of the Tanakh, nor embodied the personal qualifications of the Messiah. According to Jewish tradition, there were no more prophets after 420 BC, Malachi being the last prophet, who lived centuries before Jesus. Judaism states that Jesus did not fulfill the requirements set by the Torah to prove that he was a prophet. Even if Jesus had produced such a sign, Judaism states that no prophet or dreamer can contradict the laws already stated in the Torah
